This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) in line with the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) guidelines.
This unit applies to all persons who may be required to provide CPR, in a range of situations, including community and workplace settings.
Specific licensing/regulatory requirements relating to this competency, including requirements for refresher training should be obtained from the relevant national/state/territory Work Health and Safety Regulatory Authorities.
While HLTAID009 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation is not a full qualification, it is a core requirement or highly regarded skill across many workplaces—especially where safety, health, and emergency readiness are priorities. Holding this unit can support your employability, meet workplace compliance requirements, or help maintain professional certifications.

There are no formal prerequisites for this course, but participants should have basic English language, literacy, and numeracy skills.
You must be physically capable of performing CPR on a manikin placed on the floor for a continuous period of 2 minutes. This is a mandatory requirement for course completion. If you have any mobility concerns or a disability that may impact your ability to participate in practical components, please contact us before enrolling to discuss available support.
International students are welcome, and the minimum age to enrol in Human Resource Training’s First Aid courses is 13 years.
