The Certificate II in Security Operations qualification reflects the role of a security officer responsible for maintaining safety and security. This involves patrolling, protecting or guarding property while unarmed, screening entry, monitoring behaviour, and removing individuals from premises when required.

Security officers who hold Certificate II in Security Operations qualification may work independently or as part of a team. They operate under general supervision with limited autonomy and exercise judgement to perform routine yet variable tasks. Individuals in these roles are accountable for their own outputs, work, and ongoing learning.

The Certificate 3 Guarantee supports eligible individuals to complete their first post-school certificate III level qualification and increase their skills to move into employment, re-enter the workforce or advance their career.
Once a certificate III level qualification or higher-level qualification is completed post school participants will no longer be eligible for a subsidised training place under the Certificate 3 Guarantee program.
